Silchar, Assam, March 30 (HBTV): A technical instructor at Silchar's prestigious polytechnic institute identified as one Afzalur Rehman allegedly killed his wife with a machete and fled from the spot on Friday evening.                    

Rehman was a resident of Silchar's Meherpur. He fled from his rented residence the previous night after allegedly striking his wife, identified as one Kohinoor Begam, with a machete.            

Local residents sent the profusely bleeding Begam in a critical condition to Silchar Medical College and Hospital. However, she succumbed to her injuries while undergoing treatment.            

Police have already started investigating the matter.               

The accused person was arrested from Silchar Railway Station on Saturday morning.   

A case under IPC 302 has been registered against him.
